EAA Member Services
Changes effective 11/01/2007
Several changes are taking place within the EAA membership structure effective November 1, 2007. Chief among these changes are the new EAA Student Membership; elimination of the EAA Junior Membership; and changes within the EAA Family Membership.
Family Membership Changes
Beginning November 1, the Family Membership will be realigned to an “Individual plus Spouse” membership. Adult members can add their spouse to their EAA membership for only $10 a year. The addition of children will no longer be included in the family membership.
Changes to existing Family Memberships will begin with memberships that expire in February 2008. Memberships that expire prior to February 2008 will be able to renew the same Family Membership (adult-spouse and children - $50) for one additional year.
Junior Membership Changes
Beginning November 1, the Junior Membership will no longer be offered. Junior Members ages 17 and under will be eligible to become Student Members (see below). Junior Members ages 18 and older will be required to renew as adult Individual Members.
Changes to existing Junior Memberships will begin with memberships that expire in February 2008. Memberships that expire prior to February 2008 will be able to renew the same Junior Membership for one additional year.
The New EAA Student Membership
The Student Membership was announced at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007 as a way to engage young people and ensure that aviation’s future is a strong one. The Student Membership creates opportunities for kids to stay actively involved in aviation.
Previously, youth EAA members would be included in a Family Membership, but kids never really received any benefits designed just for them. With the new Student Membership, they get their own website; access to scholarships to further their aviation education; a demo copy of X-Plane Flight Simulator CD-ROM; an EAA Aviation Highlights DVD; and other items, all for $10 per year.
The website features include:
- Exclusive members-only access to over $300,000 per year in scholarships to aviation universities, internships, the EAA Air Academy and other opportunities
- Detailed information to help inform your aviation career choices, including a personal “online career counselor” service
- Exclusive members-only access to aviation videos
- Help with learning to fly, including a monthly Learn to Fly e-newsletter, and access to a personal “online flight instructor” service
- Full access to the EAA Members-Only website, including services such as the EAA Flight Planner software
In addition, student members will also receive most of the same benefits as regular EAA members, including discounts to EAA’s Air Academy programs.
