WACO Announces YE Donation Program

June 24, 2010 — WACO Classic Aircraft, of Battle Creek, Michigan, is working to help put new pilots in the air. The company announced that through December 31, they will donate $5,000 to the EAA Young Eagles Program for every WACO YMF-5 D sold between now and December 31, 2010.
“Looking at what’s going on, there are fewer and fewer aviators,” said WACO President Peter Bowers. “I go to fly ins and there are no young people. Too many kids are simulating, not doing it in real life. We want to get them involved in real aviation.” Mr. Bowers said he hopes that this project will inspire other manufacturers to follow suit and invest in the future of aviation.
Since its inception, more than 1.5 million kids ages 8-17 have received flights through the Young Eagles program. To learn more, click here.
